About the network

The Northwest Earth Observation Network (NEON) brings together researchers based in the north-west of England with a shared interest in using Earth Observation to investigate ecological and environmental challenges. The ever-increasing wealth of Earth Observation resources available to the research community is enabling new applications and new themes of research to be pursued. NEON aims to exploit this wealth of data availability, and stimulate research collaborations between institutions in NW England to establish a ‘region of excellence’ in this field.
Current institutional network members include:
  • Edge Hill University
  • The University of Salford
  • The University of Manchester
  • Manchester Metropolitan University
  • The Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (Lancaster)
  • Lancaster University
  • Liverpool John Moores University
